Pottery Studio Hire in Bowling: Space to Make, Without the Commitment of Your Own Kit.
If you've done a few pottery classes, finished a course, or trained elsewhere and now find yourself missing the wheel, you don't need your own studio to keep
making. At Linda Newman Ceramics in Bowling, West Dunbartonshire, we open our studio space to potters with some experience who want a proper place to
throw, trim, and glaze — without the cost or commitment of setting up a home studio.
Who studio hire is for
This isn't a guided lesson. Studio hire is for people who already know their way around a wheel — whether that's from a course with us, training elsewhere, or a
college background in ceramics — and just need consistent access to space, a wheel, and equipment to keep practicing or working on their own pieces.
If you're brand new to pottery, our taster lessons or the 3-week Throw, Trim & Glaze course are a better starting point. Studio hire picks up where those leave
off.
What's included £15 per hour, studio space and equipment, wheel hire, clay and glazes. Access A quiet, dedicated working space just outside Glasgow, in Bowling
Appointment only — no walk-ins, so you're not sharing your session with passing footfall. Get in touch ahead of time to book your slot and we'll confirm availability.
Why hire a studio instead of setting up at home
Pottery is a space-hungry, messy hobby. A wheel, a decent worktop, somewhere to store greenware safely while it dries, and - eventually — a kiln, add up quickly in
cost and square footage. For a lot of potters, especially those without a garage or spare room to dedicate to it, hiring studio time by the hour is simply more practical than trying to replicate that setup at home. It's also a good option if you're between homes, testing whether ceramics is a hobby you want to invest more in, or simply prefer having a separate space to focus that isn't mixed in with everyday life at home.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to bring my own tools?
Basic studio equipment is provided. If you have your own trimming tools or preferred kit, you're welcome to bring them.
Is firing included in the hourly rate?
Get in touch when booking to confirm current firing options and costs — this can vary depending on what you're making.
Do I need experience to book studio time?
Yes — studio hire is unsupervised working time, so it suits potters who already have some grounding on the wheel. If you're just starting out, our taster lessons are the better first step.
