About

Hi, I’m Linda Newman, a ceramicist based in Bowling, near Glasgow, working under the name Linda Newman Ceramics. I create functional stoneware home and tableware, rooted in a love of clay, the process of making, and the tactile experience of wheel-throwing. I work slowly and thoughtfully with stoneware, valuing its strength, versatility, and suitability for everyday use.

I’m inspired by cooking, shared meals, and daily rituals, and I love making pieces that are durable, long-lasting, and designed to be part of your home. I’m drawn to simple, balanced forms that show the marks of making, finished with glazes I mix and refine in my studio. Through experimenting and refining my own glaze recipes, I aim to create surfaces that feel warm, practical, and responsive to both form and use.

I’m passionate about sustainability, favouring small-batch production and materials chosen for longevity rather than trend. Alongside making, I run small, hands-on pottery wheel taster lessons, which I find incredibly rewarding — it’s wonderful to see students gain confidence, explore clay, and sometimes continue their pottery journeys at home.

My work is available to purchase from my studio or through my website, and I hope it brings warmth, practicality, and a little bit of joy to your everyday life.
